Rules

Upon registering, your name will be added to a database of potential volunteer participants for economic decision making experiments. If you are found to fit the criterion required for a particular experiment, you will receive an email inviting you to participate. Please follow the link provided in the email you receive to register for an experiment session you are able to attend.

When you participate in an experiment, you will be paid $7 for showing-up as well as any additional earnings from the experiment. These earnings are typically determined by your and others decisions in the experiment. Payments will typically be made right after the experiment is completed.

Participation is completely voluntary; you may change your mind about participating at any point during the experiment, at which point you will be given the show-up payment of $7 only. Experiments often fill up quickly, so please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your experiment sessions listed start time to ensure that you are able to participate.

Subjects who arrive after an experiment session has filled but before the announced start of the session will be awarded a show-up payment of $7. If there is a need for participants in later sessions, you will be given the option of signing up for one of these sessions at your convenience.

If all participants who signed up do not show up for the experiment, the experiment may be cancelled. This is why it is very important to attend your scheduled session.

You may only participate once in a given series of experiment, as repeated participation may skew the results.

Accurate and detailed instructions pertaining to the experiment, including detailed payment information and how to participate, will be given at the beginning of the session.

If you have any questions, please visit our FAQ page .

Privacy policy

We will use the information in our database to contact you to inform you of opportunities to participate in experiments. You may opt out of receiving e-mail from us by updating the settings in your account profile.

Data from the experiments are collected using a randomly assigned identifier, and we will never link the information in the recruitment database with data from the experiment without your permission.

All identifying information you provide at the time of registration will be kept confidential, and will only be made available to third parties with your explicit permission or as required by law.

At the time of the experiment, you will be given an informed consent form to sign with additional information specific to the experiment you are to participate in, should you decide to do so.

Payments for participating in decision making experiments are made in private. When you are paid, you will be asked to sign a payment receipt, which is purely for accounting purposes.

Do you agree with the rules outlined above?
